Swine Flu Maps and Numbers

Swine flu is off and running again in the mainstream media...the numbers are getting tossed around a lot, too. Vaccine...will there or won't there be enough? For who? How will the H1N1 vaccine interact on the immune system with seasonal flu vaccine? The answers to these questions is a big "who knows?" To help keep some of the data straight, I thought the following would be useful.

Google Flu Trends offers interesting comparison data based on web searches. You'll be able to compare what is going on today as compared a point in history...over the last few years. I recommend you look at the links on the left side-bar "How Does This Work" and the FAQ page in addition to the US map.

Zicam has really taken flu tracking via the Internet to a new level. Check out the Zicam Cold and Flu Tracker page. From here you'll be able to track flu in your area or use it to view flu activity in an area you're going to visit. You can also download interactive widgets for Facebook, blogs, and other social media. I've posted the Zicam widget on my blog in the right side-bar and on my Facebook page

Interactive Map from MSNBC.com gives a state-by-state breakdown of the number of cases and the number of deaths from Swine Flu. They also offer an option to look at the global numbers. Click here for the MSNBC map: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30435064/ns/health-swine_flu
