Texting More Dangerous than Talking...did we actually need a study to tell us this? I don't think so but the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute did. The study looked at truck drivers who texed while driving via cameras. They found that if drivers were texting the risked collision 23 times greater than those who did not...use of a cellular phone and talking while driving increased risk by 6 times. You can read the story for MSNBC.com here.
It is common sense that anytime you take your eyes off the road while texting (or doing anything else for that matter) would make you more prone to crashing. So this got me wondering...how many crashes are related to the use of mobile data terminals or MDTs in emergency vehicles? I looked for any data from law enforcement but was not able to find anything. If you know of any data on this please let me know.
