- If the person is unconscious, lay them down and open the airway. Its called putting them supine and its the beginning, not the end of care. But don't hold them up because it looks more natural...they're unconscious for a reason and probably don't care how they look.
- If the person is having trouble breathing, don't let them lay down. Especially if they are tired. Sit them up. This is called Fowler's position and you have some choices; low- semi- or high-Fowler's. It will make it easier for them to breath and easier to assess.
